Payments, Refunds and Cancellation
What a lesson costs, how payment is taken, your right to cancel, and how to ask for a refund.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
1. What it costs
- The first lesson is free. No card details are needed to take it.
- After that, each lesson costs £9.99.
- There is no subscription, no recurring charge and no minimum. You buy lessons one at a time, and a lesson you have bought stays on your account until you use it. It does not expire.
- A lesson belongs to one child. If you have more than one child on your account, you choose which of them a lesson is for after paying, and you can move it to another child at any time before it is used.
- Each lesson you buy is one lesson. Nothing is charged automatically, nothing renews, and we never store your card to charge it again — if you want another lesson, you buy another lesson.
- Prices are in pounds sterling and VAT-inclusive. Bailey Turan trading as KIARI is not currently VAT-registered, as turnover is below the UK VAT registration threshold, so no VAT is in fact charged or reclaimed on this price at present.
2. How payment works
When you buy a lesson, we send you to a secure payment page hosted by Stripe, which is a regulated payment provider. You enter your card details on Stripe's own page.
Once Stripe confirms the payment, Stripe notifies us and we add one lesson to your account. You are then returned to KIARI.
Your card details never reach us
KIARI never sees, receives or stores your card number, expiry date or security code. Those go from your browser to Stripe directly. We only ever receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, and an identifier for it. This means our systems are not a target for card data, because they do not hold any.
Stripe is certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest level in the card industry's security standard.
Card security and authentication
Payments in the UK and EU are covered by Strong Customer Authentication rules. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in your banking app or by a code. That step is between you, your bank and Stripe.
Discount codes
If you have a discount code, enter it in the discount field on the Stripe payment page before paying. The reduced total is shown before you confirm, and the amount you actually pay is the amount we record and the amount any refund is calculated from.
A discount changes the price of that one lesson only. It does not change what the lesson is, and a discounted lesson carries exactly the same rights as a full-price one.
3. Receipts
You enter your email address on Stripe's payment page, and Stripe issues the receipt for the payment. KIARI does not send a separate receipt of its own, and does not hold your card details to put on one.
If you did not receive a receipt, or you need another copy, email baileyturan05@gmail.com with the date and amount and we will get one to you.
4. Failed and duplicate payments
If a payment fails, no lesson is added and you are not charged. If you believe you have been charged twice, or charged without receiving a lesson, contact baileyturan05@gmail.com and we will investigate and refund where appropriate.
5. Cancellation, and why there is nothing to cancel
KIARI lessons are bought one at a time. Paying adds one lesson to your account, which stays there until it is used. There is no subscription, no recurring payment, no renewal date and no notice period, so there is no ongoing arrangement to cancel and nothing you need to do to stop being charged. If you simply stop buying lessons, nothing further happens and nothing further is taken.
Any lessons you have already bought stay on your account whether or not you buy again. They do not expire, and they do not lapse through inactivity.
The first lesson is free and costs you nothing, so nothing in the rest of this page applies to it.
6. Your 14-day cancellation right
Because you buy online without meeting us, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the date of purchase to change your mind and cancel, without giving a reason.
Those Regulations let a trader ask you to give that right up for a digital service you have asked to start straight away. We do not ask you to do that. Our checkout does not collect any waiver of your cancellation right, and we do not rely on one. We would rather you kept the right than sign it away in order to start a maths lesson.
In practice this means:
- An unused lesson can be cancelled and refunded in full within 14 days of purchase, for any reason or none.
- A lesson you have already taken is one we have actually delivered, so we do not normally refund it simply because you changed your mind. We will still refund it under section 7 if something went wrong with it, and we will look at any other request on its merits rather than refusing it on principle.
- A lesson you started but which failed part-way through is covered by section 7, not this section, and you do not need to rely on the 14-day right to get it put right.
7. Refunds when something goes wrong
Separately from the cancellation right, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires a digital service to be provided with reasonable care and skill. If it is not, you are entitled to a repeat performance or a price reduction.
We will refund or restore a lesson where:
- A technical fault on our side stopped a lesson from running, or ended it early.
- A lesson was materially unusable, for example the tutor voice or the answer checking failed for most of the lesson.
- You were charged twice, or charged in error.
We will not usually refund because a lesson covered a topic you did not expect, because a child chose not to engage with it, or because a particular grade was not achieved. KIARI does not promise any grade.
8. How to ask
Email baileyturan05@gmail.com from the address on the account, or call 07841612909. Tell us the date of the purchase or lesson and what went wrong. You do not need to use any particular form of words.
We aim to respond within 3 working days, and to decide within 14 days.
9. How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the original payment card through Stripe. Once we approve a refund, Stripe typically takes 5 to 10 working days to return the money to your bank, which is outside our control.
A refunded lesson that has not been used is removed from your account. A lesson you have already taken stays in your child's history, since the teaching did happen, and the refund is handled separately.
We will not ask for your card details to process a refund. If anyone asks you for card details in order to give you a refund, it is not us.
10. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing baileyturan05@gmail.com. Unused lessons are refundable on closure if they were bought within the previous 14 days. Older unused lessons are refundable at our discretion, and in practice we will normally agree.
If we stop offering the service, we will refund every unused lesson in full, regardless of when it was bought.
11. If you are not happy with our decision
Contact us first and we will try to put it right. You can also get free advice from Citizens Advice, and you retain the right to bring a claim in the courts. Your statutory rights are not affected by anything on this page.
